2024-2025 Catalog

EDCI531 Advanced Integrated Literacy I: Teachers and Children at Work (Online Extension)

With the knowledge that they have of the children in their classroom, candidates will explore and create instructional plans to meet the needs they discover. A variety of online resources will be employed providing concrete examples of highly effective instructional routines and matching those routines in practical ways to the needs of children in the candidate's classroom. Online elements will include the Using Assessment Hub Course authored by Tammy Elser, open-source content from many literacy experts and master teachers working in the field. The result is candidates can glimpse into direct classroom practice, observing and refining practical solutions to common literacy learning challenges. Routines will be articulated and shared in ways that allow other teachers to employ them thoughtfully and consistently to support action research over time. This is one of many ways that candidates will intervene to benefit the learning of their students.
