NURS446 Population Health Promotion
Population Health Promotion examines the role of the professional nurse in promoting, maintaining, and restoring health across the lifespan and within diverse populations. Students explore health promotion theories, models, and evidence-informed strategies that support individual, family, and community well-being. Course content emphasizes lifestyle behaviors, cultural and social determinants of health, prevention at the primary, secondary, and tertiary levels, and the nurse’s role in education, advocacy, and community engagement. The course prepares nursing students to integrate holistic, culturally responsive health promotion strategies into professional nursing practice across healthcare settings. Students apply health promotion principles through clinical simulation and population-based activities that foster individual, family, and community empowerment through illness prevention and wellness focused education.
