HLTH291 Theories of Health Change: Behaviors and Coaching
Theories of Health Change: Behaviors and Coaching focuses on health behavior change thories and models utilized in public health and the skills for implementing these models pertaining to health and wellness. The course provides an emphasis on the Native cultural and health considerations and the practical applciation of brief interventional and motivational skills used to promote sustained health lifestyle changes. Laboratory settings are used to simulate real-life situations for health behavioral changes. There is a focus on providing tools and skills designed to aid students in working American Indian & Alaska Native populations using health intervention and motivational techniques and additional levels of cultural studies and application to encourage sutained health lifestyle changes. A community presentation is required for this course.
