HLTH240 Health Promotion Across the Lifespan
Health Promotion Across the Lifespan explores the role community/public health professionals have in health promotion, disease prevention, and chronic disease management throughout the human lifespan. The couurse introduces the major causes of premature morbidity and mortality, behavioral and environmental contributions to illness and injury, and strategies for promoting health, wellness, and risk reduction. The course provides opportunities to practice developing and teaching health promotion, disease prevention, and chronic disease management community education via community projects and role-playing. Using a guided inquiry approach, the course utilizes technology and various instructional didactics in the classroom and laboratory settings. The course includes lecture, classroom, field trips, and laboratory activities. Students are provided additional levels of cultural study and application to prepare the students to work with American Indian & Alaska Native populations as well as other diverse populations within the public health setting.
