EDCI570 Advanced Integrated Literacy III: The Child in the Learning Community (Intensive)
Advanced Integrated Literacy III will explore contemporary and historical issues related to educational policy, publishers, programs, and systems that undermine equity and excellence in literacy learning for children. Throughout the term, candidates will research and present contrasting perspectives, staging Socratic seminars, pop-up debates, and talking circles to refine their thinking and ability to respond to inequity at the classroom, building, district, state, and federal levels. At the macro level, candidates will examine failure in educational systems and explore ways to mitigate the potential harm of such systems. At the micro level, they will examine failure in the context of their own praxis and share with their cohort as a poster session with an emphasis on creation of a continuous cycle of improvement.
