SCWK271 Trauma Sensitive Teaching and Practice

Trauma Sensitive Teaching and Practice will provide foundational knowledge about trauma-sensitive practice and teaching with Native American individuals, families, and communities. Interprofessional approaches to trauma-informed prevention and intervention will be explored. The course will also focus on the inclusion of culturally confruent strategies and awareness of historical and contemporary issues for Native Americans. A key focus will be on teachers, social workers, and other service professionals in engaging specific trauma-informed practices for addressing Native Americans' academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and health needs.
