SCWK240 Historical Trauma and Resiliency
Historical Trauma and Resiliency will explore the impact of historical trauma and its relationship to current health disparities in Native American communities, including health, ecobomic, and educational disparities. The perpetuation of historical trauma through policy, education, and services for Native Americans will be examined as impacting relationships with individuals within systems. Students will learn how to engage with Native American children, families, and communities to foster resiliency in a culturally relevant manner through Indigenous Knowledge (IK) and culturally-focused interventions at the micro, mezzo, and macro levels.
