NURS400 Diabetes Mellitus Type 2

This Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 nursing course will focus on the pathophysiology, epidemiology, causes, and prevention of Diabetes Type II. Clinical manifestations will be discussed in the context of medical and nursing management. Complications of Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 and long term sequelae across the lifespan will be included in this course. About 10% of the population in the United States are diagnosed with Diabetes Mellitus Type 2. The prevalence rate is increasing in youth age 18 and under; Native Americans have a high incidence rate of Diabetes Mellitus Type 2. These alarming statistics make this course relevant and essential to current nursing practice.
