HLTH284 HPP Practicum II

HPP Practicum II provides students with an exploration of additional career opportunities in the field of health promotion and includes 30 practicum hours. One credit of this course is earned in the laboratory. The other credit is earned through 30 hours of practicum, immersed in a community/public health organization in the community. The student will spend approximately three (3) hours a week in the community setting.  The student will be required to sign a contract agreement, set up a work schedule, and keep a journal of their activities at the practicum site.  Laboratory content includes: written assignments, group activities and discussions, guest speakers, field trips, and role-playing motivational interviewing skills. Additional levels of cultural study and application to prepare the students to work specifically with American Indian & Alaska Native populations and other diverse populations in the Public Health setting.
