HIEP105 Medical Office Foundations

Medical Office Foundations introduces students to the components of a healthcare administrative team. The course covers the concepts of privacy, security, confidentiality, ethics, healthcare legislation, and regulations relating to the maintenance and use of health information. Students will be able to identify the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations. Students learn medical terminology that healthcare professionals use and develop a basic vocabulary of medical terms and abbreviations.
