HLTH102 Foundations of Health and Wellness
Foundations of Health and Wellness is an exploratory course which examines the dimensions of health from the physical, psychological, cultural, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, environmental, financial, occupational, and social aspects on the individual, community, region, state, nation, and global levels. The course examines traditional and contemporary activities that strengthen wellbeing with a focus on working within the the interdisciplinary team model. The course is two hours a week in a lecture setting and one hour in a lab. Laboratory settings are used to simulate real-life situations where a student can develop and practice the skills for assessment, creating a plan of care, developing interventions, and beginning to evaluate effectiveness. The course provides additional levels of cutural tudy and application to prepare students to work specifically with American Indian and Alaska Native populations as well as other diverse populations wihin the public health setting.
