Native Language Teacher Education Associate of Science
This program is three years in length. The first year is focused on intensive language learning led by the Se̓liš-Ql̓ispé Culture Committee (SQCC), and covers Levels 1 and 2 of the Séliš u Ql̓ispé Nuwewlštn curriculum. Students may challenge NASL 101, 102, and 103. Successful participants will complete the content necessary to apply for a Class 7 Certification and earn a Certificate of Completion at the conclusion of the first year (Fall - Summer). The second and third years (Fall - Summer) focus on educator preparation aimed at preparing teachers who are working towards sustaining and revitalizing Salish language and culture. Multiple opportunities for practicum experiences will be provided, with a focus on observing, teaching, and reflecting upon these experiences with students in the second and third years of the SLED program.
