Graduation and Commencement Requirements
In order to graduate, the student must complete the following requirements:
- An official high school transcript or G.E.D. must be on file with the Registrar’s Office.
- The student must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.0.
- The student must have earned a minimum of a “C” grade in all required coursework for the degree as published in the SKC catalog.
- For transfer students, a minimum number of quarter hours of credit must be earned at SKC immediately preceding graduation:

- Students must complete the general education exit assessment given to Associate Degree or rising sophomore students.
- All substitution/waiver/transfer forms for potential graduates are due to the Academic Transfer Specialist no later than December 31 of the year in which graduation is expected.
- Students must complete an application for graduation and submit it by the due date of each year to the Registrar’s Office. Graduation applications are initiated with the student’s advisor, and then submitted to the Registrar. After the Registrar reviews the graduation application, students who will be graduating are notified of further procedures for Commencement.
Degrees are conferred at the end of the term in which degree requirements are met. The date of degree conferment will be listed as the term end date (last day of class for each quarter). Only complete and accurate degree applications submitted to the registrar’s office by the end of term date will be processed for degree conferment each quarter. Incomplete work will only be considered for degree conferment if finalized and accompanied by submission of completed and signed incomplete forms to the registrar’s office within one week of the end of term date. All late submissions will be processed in the following term and have a conferment date at the end of that following term.
Commencement occurs at the end of each spring term as published in the Catalog.
