Certification in Trauma and Resiliency

This certification offers an emphasis in trauma and resiliency for human service fields (medical, social work, substance abuse, education, and criminal justice). The certification will include ethics, knowledge of self and self-care, as well as the development of practice skills for Native American individuals, families and communities.
At the completion of the course sequence, students will be able to:
- Define trauma and evaluate systemic oppression, historical and collective trauma, and toxic stress.
- Identify traumatic structures and events and application to individuals, families, communities and self-care
- Analyze impact of trauma and its effects at multiple levels.
- Identify and apply key principles of trauma based care.
- Determine various aspects of trauma based care through multiple modalities.
- Integrate knowledge of trauma based care into practice and care of self.
