NRMG530 Advanced Fire Ecology

Advanced Fire Ecology is an advanced exploration of fire effects in fire-adapted ecosystems, as well as key ecological concepts, approaches to studying ecological effects of fires, management implications, and related scientific literature. Fire ecology is a diverse and broad field, including fire history, nutrient, water, and energy cycling, wildlife and plant fire adaptations and tolerances, and disturbance ecology theory. The course will emphasize fire’s role as an evolutionary force, and in maintaining and restoring health and resiliency in fire-adapted ecosystems. Students will explore relevant research and scientific literature.
