MATH136 Geometry for High School Teachers

Geometry for High School Teachers is an axiomatic and transformational approach to geometry tailored for future secondary educators. This course investigates the foundations of Euclidean geometry alongside a rigorous introduction to Non-Euclidean systems (Spherical and Hyperbolic). Students will explore the "Big Ideas" of the high school curriculum—congruence, similarity, and measurement—through the lens of Isometries (reflections, rotations, translations). Special emphasis is placed on the use of dynamic geometry software (like GeoGebra or Desmos) to facilitate inquiry-based learning and the development of formal proof-writing skills.
