NRMG554 GIS II: Basic Digitizing and Raster Analysis
GIS - or Geographic Information System - is a tool for creating and analyzing spatial data. This course will build on the introductory GIS class. Students will learn intermediate-level skills with the software package ArcGIS. Students will gain GIS experience through class projects, which will be modeled after real-world problems. The course will cover data management, basic digitizing, raster analysis, and expand on students' spatial analysis skills.
Students enrolled for graduate credit will complete an independent project using methods covered in the course directly or indirectly related to their Master’s degree research or project topic, and submit the results in the form of a written report and class presentation for combined NATR354/NRMG554. Place-based research topics driven by the students’ specific research interests are commonly focused on service to indigenous communities.
