Computer Science Transfer Track Certificate of Completion
46 credits
Program Description
The Computer Science Transfer Track Certificate of Completion provides an introduction and exploration into the world of computer science and technology. Its primary purpose is to prepare students to transfer into a 4 year computer science program at schools in the Montana University system (UM, MSU, MTTech). The courses in this certificate correspond to many of the first year courses offered at other Montana universities including math and computer science courses. Core courses provide a foundation in programming concepts and calculus. Topics such as Object-Oriented Programming, Data, and Coding Communities of Practice (CCoP) will be introduced.
Educational Opportunities
Courses within this program are transferable and may be applied to two-year or four-year degree programs at other institutions --starting their sophomore year. Students wishing to transfer to another postsecondary institution should consult with that college or university to determine course transferability.
Career Opportunities
Successful completion of this certificate may lead to employment and/or contract opportunities.
Learning Outcomes
Students who successfully complete the Computer Science Transfer Track Certificate will be able to:
● Interpret and differentiate computer programming terms and concepts
● Demonstrate the ability to install, configure, and set up programing environments
● Use critical thinking to formulate, plan, and design coding solutions to solve problems
● Apply troubleshooting methods to test and debug computer programs
