Certification in Grant Operations
16 credits
Program Description
The Certification in Grant Operations provides students with foundational
skills needed to manage grant funds. Many non-profit organizations depend on grant funding
for financial support, but lack the knowledge to manage the funds. The courses leading to this
certification could be taken in combination with any major at SKC, and would be beneficial for
any professional organization that depends on grant funding, especially educational institutions
and tribal entities. Students completing the required courses would become familiar with the
basic features of grant projects management including the general process, how to distribute
the funds appropriately, adherence to regulations and laws compulsory for grant funds, and
completion of the reports required by the funding agency. Ethics in grant management is also
addressed.
Learning Outcomes
After completing the Certification, students will:
- Become familiar with the grant project process.
- Demonstrate knowledge of laws and regulations related to the management of grant funds.
- Examine ethical and legal issues related to grant administration.
- Prepare reports as required by grant funding agencies.
