Certification in Bookkeeping

Program Description

12 credits

The Certification in Bookkeeping is designed to provide fundamental skills used in entry level bookkeeping positions.  Classes focus on the basics of accounting and bookkeeping.  Students will also be introduced to terminology related to accounting and bookkeeping, personal finance and electronic spreadsheets.  Those successfully completing the required courses for this certification would be competent to perform entry-level bookkeeping duties.

Learning Outcomes

  • Define terms related to accounting, bookkeeping.
  • Create general ledger entries and basic accounting reports. 
  • Demonstrate the basic principles of finance.
  • Create and maintain spreadsheets using appropriate formulas and functions.
