ARTD171 Introduction to Papermaking

Introduction to Papermaking offers a broad spectrum of ways to make handmade paper. Working with a variety of different fibers, various pulps, pigments and other related materials students will explore a variety of techniques. Students will have options to work with beaten bark forms, recycled materials, floating moulds and techniques of pulp painting, pulp spraying and casting. The history of papermaking in various parts of the world will be part integral to course instruction. The class will aid students in design, conceptual thinking, problem solving, as well as devoting time to the development of personal ideas into paper art forms.
