2017-2018 Catalog

LFSC463 Virology

Virology concentrates on the molecular mechanisms of virus replication, and on the interactions between viruses and the cells in which they replicate. The course includes learning about virology by presenting modules, each of which covers a specific virus, using one or two well-studied viruses as examples. These modules are designed to tell a story about the viruses being considered and to portray the "personality" of those viruses, with the idea that this will help students to learn about and remember each virus group. The emphasis of this course is on virus replication strategies and is directed toward university students studying microbiology, cellular and molecular biology, and the biomedical sciences.
