IDST100 SKC Seminar
SKC Seminar is a first-year course designed to support student success and connection to college life. Through writing, journaling, discussion, and collaborative activities, students strengthen critical thinking, communication, cultural awareness, and citizenship. The course develops essential college skills including team building, digital literacy, time management, leadership, and note-taking. Students engage in developing a service learning proposal, exploring personal goals, and building academic confidence. SKC Seminar introduces campus resources, pre-advising planning, and career considerations, helping students navigate college expectations and plan for the future. This course fosters readiness for academic, career, and personal growth with a focus on Séliš, Ksanka, and Qlispé ways of being and the influences of the student’s own cultural experiences and perspectives.
