Social Work120 Introduction to Trauma Sensitive Care
Introduction to Trauma Sensitive Care introduces trauma and the core principles of trauma-informed care (individual, family, and community0 through the lifespan. The biological and pscyhological effects of trauma will be explored. Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) will be examined in connection with health, social, and psychological outcomes. This course will also explore the risk and protective factors of trauma, secondary trauma exposure, and the necessity of self-care through focus on Native individuals, families, and communities.
