2021-2022 Catalog

Dual Enrollment Students

Dual enrollment allows Montana students to take college courses while still in high school.  Students may earn college credit, or dual credit (high school AND college credit) depending on the type of course, the location of the course, and how the student registers. Courses may be offered at Salish Kootenai College, at the student’s local high school, or online.

A currently enrolled high school student may apply for admission to take dual enrollment courses. Students applying for admission under this program must complete the regular admissions procedure and provide documentation of approval by parents and high school officials. Other admissions requirements and procedures are defined in the admissions materials. A schedule of tuition and fees for dual enrollment courses is available from the SKC Office of Admissions (275-4855) or the SKC Registrar's Office (275-4864).  If the student is registering in a dual credit course, the registration form must be signed by a high school counselor. If the student is under the age of 18, or a home school student, the form must be signed by a parent/guardian.

High school students are admitted under an “Ability to Benefit” provision. Once admitted, high school students are subject to all SKC policies and procedures, as defined in the SKC Student Handbook and the College Catalog. Students registering for dual enrollment coursework must satisfy all course prerequisites and provide placement test scores where needed. Registration cannot be processed unless documentation of scores is attached or on file at the college. Students will also follow the SKC catalog and policies/procedures. Students should note that course grades – including a “W” or “Withdraw” – will show on their Salish Kootenai College transcript.

For more information about applying to SKC while in high school, see the SKC Dual Enrollment website, https://www.skc.edu/dual-enrollment/, contact the Dual Enrollment Coordinator at 275-4936 or the SKC Office of Admissions.
