PSYC430 Diverse Issues in Historical Trauma

Diverse Issues in Historical Trauma provides an overview of complex issues related to historical trauma across cultural, social and historical settings. The course addresses theoretical foundations of trauma, identifies cultural and social groups impacted by historical trauma, and explores the impact of trauma on individuals, families, communities and the society at large. Healing, resilience and transformation are examined, with a focus on the Native American experience. Format includes lectures, class dialogue, videos, articles and student presentations that initiate and guide class discussion.
