ECED129 Early Childhood Curriculum and Environments I

Early Childhood Curriculum and Environments I introduces students to designing and preparing intentional learning environments that are central to the care and education of young children. Emphasis is placed on meeting the unique needs of young children when selecting materials and activities that also celebrate diversity and cultures of families. In addition, the course explores creating environments that promote healthy safe relationships in the context of play, exploration, and learning. Students study the domains of language-literacy, mathematics, science, the arts, physical, and social development. Concurrently, they gain experience in setting age appropriate goals and objectives in lesson planning aligned with informal and formal assessment.
