PSYC340 Childhood Trauma and Socio-emotional Development
Childhood Trauma and Social Emotional Development provides students with perspectives and techniques to help nurture social and emotional development of children from birth through the high school years. The course focuses on the interaction of brain processes and the traumatic response, and resulting behavioral sets that will be observed in the classroom. Development, components, and influences of social competence in the early years as well as common social and emotional difficulties will be explored. Students will focus on recognition and management of behaviors related to developmental trauma and will develop strategies to support protective features and resilience in children who present with specific emotional and social difficulties.
