EDUC390 Teaching Science in the Elementary Classroom

Teaching Science in the Elementary Classroom provides candidates with the ability to develop science instruction and assessments for PreK-8 learners that are aligned with state and national science standards, and which reflect Indigenous ways of understanding and living with the natural world. Candidates will gain familiarity with instructional methods and materials appropriate for teaching content and science process skills, primarily through inquiry and experiential learning.  Candidates will design and implement learning experiences that address a broad array of science disciplines, as understood in both traditional / Western and Indigenous science frameworks, especially those centered on the seasonal rounds of the Séliš, Qlispé, and Ksanka.
