ENGL240 Freelance Writing for Commerce and Community

In Freelance Writing for Commerce and Community, students learn how to write for businesses, non-profits, newspapers, magazines, and other media outlets. This class will cover the real world writing skills and processes that any beginning writer must master in order to establish a successful and profitable career as a writer--how to pitch article ideas to editors, how to write eye-catching and effective copy for a business/non-profit, how to sell strong writing abilities as a valuable service, how to identify a suitable market or industry to write for, and how to conduct oneself in business interactions.
