CHEM 420 Environmental Chemistry
Environmental Chemistry is broad field with more than one definition. This course concentrates on topics that deal with specifically with the chemical aspects of problems that mankind and industrialization have caused in the natural environment. The focus is kept on chemical processes whereby pollutants have a direct impact on the environmental health of humans and ecosystems. Students will gain an understanding of this "pollution chemistry" through knowledge of the behavior and effects of chemicals in the environment. It approaches these problems through the lens of the "four elements", namely air, fire, water and earth.
