Certificate of General Sciences

Certificate of Completion (50 credits)

The Certificate of General Sciences is designed to provide general education courses for students who have not yet declared a 2 or 4 year degree track program in the sciences such as General Science, Life Sciences, Nursing, or Health Promotion Practices. The Certificate also provides general courses required for transfer to other programs such as radiology, dental hygiene, or other health science programs at another college or university.

Students in the General Science Program are advised by the faculty of the Life Sciences Department. Students should consult with a program adviser to develop an academic plan based on their plans for transfer or continuing to another SKC program.

Student Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the Certificate of Completion in General Science, students will be able to:

  • Communicate scientific information in written and oral presentations.
  • Demonstrate understanding of essential concepts and theories of life sciences.
  • Solve quantitative problems in science using appropriate analyses.
